Disillusionment. It's a beautiful, poetic word for an ugly, horrible, tragic feeling. It means hurt, betrayal, pain, mockery, and utter devastation.
I was once happy. Now I feel as if my heart has been ripped into pieces.
I thought you could only get your heart broken by a significant other, like a boyfriend. Well, did you know that a friend can break your heart, too? Sometimes, when it's just a friend, it hurts even more, because you know deep down that you never expected them to be anything more to you than a friend.
That's when the wound cuts deeper. Everything they say or do affects you, despite the fact that you are under the false impression that you have lower expectations for them than you do for any significant other.
Well, that's wrong. You expect more from them, because your sole, constant argument remains: "I only wanted us to be friends." But to you, it really means: Call me, write me, like me, appreciate me, understand me, be there for me...don't leave me.
*OUCH*...Does anyone have a Band-Aid? I think this thing is getting infected...
