I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico with spina bifida. After living there for almost three years, my parents and I moved to Orlando, where I have lived ever since. I am a college student whose dream is to be a broadcast journalist, and I love to speak French. I am also fluent in Spanish.

Well, everyone! I promised a scanned copy of my Orlando Sentinel column that came out on Saturday, and here it is. It may not appear very big or even legible here, but if not, just go to the direct link I posted and it'll take you there. Hope you all enjoy it!!

Laurita,
You are my new hero! I loved that article so much! I LOVED the way you wrote it and especially loved the way you ended it about not letting sb shape you life! You're a fantastic writer!
I am so glad I found your blog. I am excited to share it with my six yr old daughter Katie (SB L5-S2).
Thanks again for your awesome example.
Also I would love to post your article on my blog. Would you mind if I did so?

Fantastic Article Laurita! One of my Aunts was born with scoliosis and to this day she stills deals with the mean-spiritedness of others, I am sorry that you have confronted such ugliness in the face of your battles, but you continue to handle them with courage and that's what sets you apart! Keep being such a strong voice!
